NATIONAL RECYCLING AWARDS 2005

Laserxchange in conjunction with Oxfam and the Co-operative Group were finalist at this years National Recycling Awards held at the Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield on the 25th October 2005.

The event was organised by MRW (material recycling week) magazine and hosted for the evening by TV personality Paul Ross.

Laserxchange in conjunction with Oxfam and the Co-operative Group were finalists for the Best Retail Recycling Initiative, with a scheme involving inkjet and mobile phone recycling bags at the checkouts of all the Co-ops 1787 stores.

Malcolm Kerman MD of Laserxchange said the company has worked for 10 years with Oxfam and was delighted to be working with the strong ethically oriented Co-operative group on this project.

National recycling Awards are sponsored by Bank-it, Redfearn glass, Cleanaway, Defra, Evolve, Grosvenor, LARAC, MRW, Onyx, RWM06, Valpak, Vehicles and Plant Technology and Wyvern Waste Services. 2005 was the 7th Year for the Awards. Friday 13 February 2004: The British Heart Foundation and LaserXchange Put Their Hearts Into Recycling

Partnership to help mend hearts and help the environment.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) and LaserXchange have launched a printer cartridge recycling scheme to help raise funds to fight heart disease – the UK’s biggest killer.

The partnership will mean that for every suitable cartridge recycled by LaserXchange, the print cartridge recyclers, the BHF will receive a donation. The heart charity will be given £1 for every ink cartridge and £2.50 for every laser cartridge recycled.

A staggering 19.5 million¹ printer cartridges end up in UK landfills each year, so if only a small proportion are collected and recycled for the BHF, a large amount of money will be raised.

Douglas Rouse, Head of Corporate Fundraising at the British Heart Foundation says: “We’re encouraging every computer user – both at work and home - to recycle their printer cartridges for the British Heart Foundation. It’s simple and free for home PC or Mac users and companies to get involved, and they’ll be helping us to raise vital funds. What’s more, they’ll be doing their bit to protect the environment.”

Currently over 2 million people in the UK suffer from coronary heart disease (CHD)². LaserXchange and the BHF hope their partnership will raise vital money so the charity can to continue to fund pioneering research, patient care and life saving equipment.

To participate in the scheme, all that businesses have to do is to register their company with LaserXchange and their empty laser cartridges will be collected free of charge. Home users can get involved by picking up a special freepost envelope in their local BHF Shop and simply putting their used inkjet cartridge in the post.
