Warranties,
Maintenance Contracts and Guarantees.
Where
do you stand if you use a Laserxchange cartridge?
All the positive benefits of using
a remanufactured Laserxchange product can hide a series of niggling
doubts
- Will it invalidate my warranty?
- Can it damage my printer?
- Where do I stand if it does?
Warranties
and Maintenance contracts.
To the best of our knowledge no printer manufacturer has invalidated
a warranty or maintenance contract because of the use of a remanufactured
product, indeed, to do so would violate the Anti - Trust laws
in the USA and at best be dubious practice in the UK.
To quote Hewlett Packard (and we have no evidence that any other
manufacturer would act differently) "The use of non-Hewlett
Packard toner cartridges does not effect either the warranty
or any maintenance contract purchased from HP."
They go on to state "However, if an HP LaserJet printer failure
or printer damage is found to be directly attributable to the
use of any non-HP product, the repair will not be covered under
the warranty or HP maintenance contract."
If any such situation occurred, you would be fully covered by
our Warranty and Product Liability Insurance.
A damaged printer
In the extremely unlikely event (in ten years, and hundreds
of thousands of cartridges it has never been necessary for us
to make an insurance claim) of a Laserxchange cartridge causing
damage to a laser printer we would reimburse for any damage
caused by our defective product in line with the terms and conditions
laid down in our Product Liability Insurance held with the Norwich
Union Insurance Co.
If your machine is under warranty or maintenance contract a
claim for damage should first be presented to the manufacturer
or maintenance contractor for repair. If the repair is denied
in writing, citing the use of a Laserxchange cartridge as the
cause of the damage and the reason for refusal, then upon receipt
of the defective cartridge (each Laserxchange cartridge has
a unique serial number that will establish its identity), the
letter of denial and any other documentation relating thereto,
including a detailed repair receipt and a list of repaired or
replaced parts we will process the claim.
If your machine is not under warranty or covered by a maintenance
contract, then if a recognised servicing company will cite the
use of a Laserxchange cartridge as the cause of the damage we
would proceed as above. Please note that should the cartridge
not be at fault you will be liable for any costs involved.
In practice the way in which a laser printer operates means
that any damage likely to be caused by a defective cartridge
is extremely limited and in the interests of good customer relationships,
most claims would be met without redress to the insurance company.
